Battipaglia Strengthens Environmental Controls: Nisida Environment to Monitor Discharges
Battipaglia, Italy – The Department of Environment of the Municipality of Battipaglia, with the support of municipal offices, has renewed its commitment for 2024 to strengthening environmental controls on the most vulnerable ecosystems affected by human activities, with the goal of protecting public health and safeguarding the environment.
Through the resolution “Guidelines on Environmental Protection”, the municipality has defined an action plan for monitoring discharges, assessing bathing water quality, and protecting the coastal ecosystem, assigning its implementation to Nisida Environment.
Starting in 2024 and for the next two years, Nisida Environment will be responsible for implementing the control plan for industrial discharges not connected to the public sewage system, which fall under municipal jurisdiction, to ensure the preservation of water quality in surface water bodies.
Nisida Environment’s Role Includes:
Collecting and analyzing information on water discharges into soil and receiving water bodies, as well as identifying the companies responsible for these discharges.
Conducting field monitoring and operational inspections, verifying municipal data for inconsistencies, sampling and analyzing wastewater to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
The initiative has also garnered local interest, with Sud TV reporting on the details of the project.
